Research Fellow, The Policy Institute at King's
Alexandra Pollitt is a Research Fellow at the Policy Institute at King’s. While she works on a wide range of policy areas, her current focus is primarily on research evaluation and R&D policy. Alex’s recent work includes a report looking at the future of UK research collaboration with other countries post-Brexit, a study mapping the global mental health research funding landscape and a comprehensive scientometric evaluation of the European Research Council’s funded projects. She has also carried out extensive work on the societal impact of research, including a comparison of the relative value researchers and the general public place on different kinds of impact, an international study on the impacts of mental health research over a 20-year period and an assessment of the economic returns of UK cancer research.
Alex has expertise in a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methodologies, and has taught research methods, communications and project management internationally. She holds an MA in Experimental Psychology from Oxford University and previously worked in psychiatry research at the University of Cambridge. Prior to joining King’s in 2016, Alex spent six years working in policy research and analysis at RAND Europe, a not-for-profit policy research institute. She has also worked in education assessment and in impact measurement, monitoring and evaluation for an international NGO.
