Dr Andrew Dean graduated in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, staying for a PhD in neurophysiology followed by post-doctoral work, before embarking on training in neuropathology.

Between 1990 and 2001 he worked in the Neuropathology Department of King’s College Hospital, then based at the Institute of Psychiatry. For the past 13 years he has been a consultant neuropathologist at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.

His academic interests cover a broad range of neuroscience, including formulation and implementation of life-science policy. He has a special interest in neuropathological and radiological characterisation of brain development in health and disease across the range of neuro-psychiatric and neurological disorders.
