Andrew Fisher is a theoretical condensed-matter physicist with interests in nanoscale electron transport, theories of decoherence and their application to quantum information. After studying at Cambridge and Oxford he held a postdoctoral fellowship at IBM Zurich Research Laboratory and faculty positions at the University of Durham and UCL (University College London). He is a Principal Investigator and member of the executive Board at the London Centre for Nanotechnology.

He was a member of the management teams for two national EPSRC scientific initiatives, the IRCs in Nanotechnology and Quantum Information Processing, and is now a member of the EPSRC Strategic Advisory Team for Physical Sciences. He is also a member of the Executive of Canon Foundation Europe.
