Darren Jones has been the Labour Member of Parliament for Bristol North West since 2017 and was elected to Chair of the House of Commons Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee in 2020. He also sits on the Joint Committee for the National Security Strategy and the Liaison Committee, which questions the Prime Minister.

Prior to his election, Darren was a legal counsel at BT plc having trained as a telecommunications solicitor. Darren studied Human Biosciences at Plymouth University before reading law at the University of the West of England and the University of Law, Bristol.

Darren is one of the elected politicians taking up a Policy Fellowship in 2021. He plans to use his Fellowship to consider the economic opportunities and challenges facing the UK; how to reform government in the context of technological change and devolution; and the UK’s role in the world, including in respect of defence, national security and climate diplomacy.
