Dr David Wallom is Associate Director of Innovation at the Oxford e-Research Centre, where he leads three different activities, Energy and ICT, Cloud Computing and Volunteer Computing. He has had over 20 research projects in areas such as Cloud utilisation, Smart Energy Grids (he leads the centres energy theme with two projects on SmartGrid), Research data management, Green IT ( for which he is the departmental representative on a JISC institutional exemplar project), ICT security and ICT for the Square Kilometer Array astrophysics project.

He is also the Technical Director of the UK National Grid Service, a role that will be evolving steadily over the next 12 months. From the definition of key milestones in the technical roadmap of the project as it moves to include and improve its provision of service based interfaces, through to the growth of the partnership program to include resources and users from institutions that until now have not been well connected to the project. This will also include key growth in the integration of regional grids that will underpin the NGS mission. As part of this he also currently chairs the UK e-Science Engineering Task Force, whose mission to report on the technical innovations that have been the definitive outputs from the UK e-Science programme including presentations and technical reports.

Dr Wallom currently leads the Integrated Instrumentation and Volunteer Computing Groups.
