Dr Julian Priddle is in charge of academic development in the Anglia Teaching and Learning department of Anglia Ruskin University. He works with the Faculty of Science and Technology on various aspects of learning, teaching and assessment. To do this, he works closely with many of the staff in the Faculty as well as colleagues in Anglia Learning and Teaching. This allows him to act as conduit to bring good practice to the centre, where is can be shared institutionally, and to take ideas and good practice back to the faculty.

He has taught as a guest lecturer and held honorary lectureships at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, Queen’s University, Belfast and the University of Essex, and well as teaching biological oceanography for Anglia Ruskin Life Sciences. He has also worked with the Open University on the development of online course materials, and as a developer and tutor for distance learning courses for the Institute for Continuing Education, University of Cambridge.

His research interests focus on: Online learning and the use of learning technologies; Distance learning; Open educational resources; Adult numeracy and the ‘Maths Gap’; Online assessment; Environmental sciences; and Education for sustainability.
