Dr Markus Kalberer leads the Kalberer Research Group in the Centre for Atmospheric Science, part of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cambridge. His research focusses on the chemistry of atmospheric aerosols and their effects on human health.
Atmospheric aerosol particles are key components in the climate system and are associated with respiratory and cardio-vascular diseases. In both areas the chemical composition and reactivity of aerosol particles are important. His team's research activities include: Analysis of the composition of organic aerosols; Development of analytical-chemical instrumentation; and Interactions of aerosol particles with the lung.
