Dr Nick Gray has been involved with the Centre for Science and Policy since its formal launch in July 2009. He was the Centre's part-time Acting Executive Director in the initial period, responsible for designing its operational processes and (together with the Founding Director and Head of Programmes) launching the workshop, lecture and seminar programmes, and the Policy Fellowships Programme. Nick also managed the process for recruiting the Centre's first full-time Executive Director in May 2010, and held the fort once more while the Centre recruited its second Executive Director in 2012. He remains involved as a consultant to the Centre, particularly in connection with the Policy Fellowships Programme, recruiting fellows and arranging their initial schedule of meetings in the University.

Nick was an undergraduate and graduate student in the University from 1975, and a Research Fellow at Jesus College from 1981-1984. After completing his PhD he lectured and researched at the University of Leeds before leaving academia to pursue a career in operations management. He returned to the University in 2009 after leaving his role as Chief Operating Officer at telecommunications consulting company Analysys Mason Ltd and setting up as an independent consultant specialising in operational resource, pipeline, and project-lifecycle management for professional services companies. He continues to consult for a several such companies in and around Cambridge, as well as for a number of Departments in the University.
