Dr Peter Webb is a Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at the University of Cambridge. He specialises in research into popular and contemporary music, subcultures, globalisation, new media technology, politics, cultural and social theory.

He did his undergraduate degree in Sociology and Politics at the University of the West of England; an MSC in Sociology at the University of Bristol and then a PhD on the Sociology of Popular Music back at the University of the West of England. After completing his PhD he worked as a Research Assistant on a two and a half year ESRC funded project looking into E-Commerce and the Music, Fashion and Financial Services Industries based in the Department of Geographic Sciences at the University of Bristol. He then worked in for the University of Birmingham and Goldsmiths, University of London, before taking up his position at Cambridge.
