Dr Rupert Payne is a Consultant Senior Lecturer in Primary Health Care at the University of Bristol. He was previously a Clinical Lecturer in General Practice in the Primary Care Unit at the University of Cambridge. His interests include pharmacoepidemiology, electronic health records and data linkage, cardiovascular risk management, and vascular biomechanics.

He is currently using linked routine primary and secondary care data in a number of ways to examine prescribing practices, in addition to investigating the use of these data for the purposes of quantifying multiple morbidity. Rupert holds an honorary fellowship at the University of Edinburgh, and a consultant editor of Prescriber journal.
