Senior Research Associate, Department of Computer Science and Technology, University of Cambridge

Sarah is an Accelerate Science Research Fellow at the Department of Computer Science and Technology, and leads the AI for brain sciences group. Her research applies AI and data science approaches to better understand and predict brain development, cognition and mental health. To that end, she uses a range of methods from machine learning, network science and Natural Language Processing. Sarah is also a Turing Fellow and a Senior Research Associate at the Cambridge Psychiatry Department.

Sarah's PhD focussed on open quantum dynamics and building atomistic descriptions of complex, optically active materials (both biological and organic). She was supervised by Dr Alex Chin, in the Cambridge Theory of Condensed Matter group (TCM) at the Cavendish Laboratory. During her PhD, Sarah undertook a secondment to the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, working on the UK's Quantum Technology Strategy. She was also heavily involved with Cambridge University Science and Policy Exchange (CUSPE) which aims to build closer links between policy makers and early career researchers.
