Solutions to climate change; by the people, for the people
Craig Bennett, Chief Executive Officer, Friends of the Earth
Date: Thursday 24 January 2019
Time: 17:30-18:45 followed by drinks
Venue: Plumb Auditorium, Christ's College Cambridge (map)
The climate change discourse is too often obsessed with central government policy solutions and technical fixes.
But evidence suggests that there are no solutions to climate change that can be done to people. The solutions that succeed and endure are typically those that are done 'by the people for the people', in particular diverse coalitions of people, as represented by civil society.
In his lecture, Craig Bennett, Chief Executive of Friends of the Earth, will reveal some of the secrets behind successful campaigning for action on climate change, and make a plea for academics, policy makers and business leaders to think more creatively about climate solutions.2019 Climate Seminar Series
