CEO, Basis Social

Dr Darren Bhattachary is the CEO of Basis Social, an award-winning social research company he co-founded in 2021. He has a wealth of experience leading behavioural research studies on a range of topics including food safety, low carbon behaviours, smoking cessation, pension enrolment and further education. Before joining Basis, Darren was a Global Board member and Co-CEO of Kantar’s Insights Division UK&I where, as well as leading the business, he helped to drive data and analytic capabilities through M&A activity. He was previously Executive Director of BMRB (now Kantar Public), where he developed their behaviour change frameworks. He also worked as Head of Science Communication at the Royal Society, the UK’s national academy of science, and has a long-standing interest in engaging the public in decision making around science and technology.

Darren holds a PhD in environmental decision making from UCL and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
