Director, J.K. Pell Consulting

Dr Judith Pell is the Director of J.K. Pell Consulting and an independent science consultant and freelance editor. She has extensive research experience in sustainable agriculture (insect pathology, microbial control, biological control, IPM) and biodiversity.

She currently works as a consultant to Inscentinel Ltd, where she fulfils the role of Cheif Scientist. She is also a consultant to Rothamsted Research, where she is responsible for intellectual input to Defra-funded research project 'Field margins for biocontrol and biodiversity across arable rotations', and to the University of Exeter.

Prior to setting up J.K. Pell Consulting Dr Pell was a Senior Research Scientist at Rothamsted Research, where she worked for 22 years. She led a team of researchers studying the ecology and exploitation of entomopathogenic fungi, and co-ordinated a national BBSRC LINK project with industry to develop novel aphid control strategies using conservation of entomopathogenic fungi. She was a partner in an EU CRAFT proposal, New Insect Control, to develop microbial control of codling moth and received national funding from DEFRA to support strategic research on microbial control.
