Head of City Regions and Placemaking at Department for Transport
Nick Jones has been Head of City Regions and Placemaking at the Department for Transport since July 2020. His work includes strategic thinking on the future of transport devolution for city regions in England and managing funding streams focused on intra-city transport.
Previously he was an Epidemiologist at Public Health England, working in a team developing models to inform public health decision-making for non-communicable diseases. Prior to this he worked at the Department for Transport, joining the department in 2016 through the Civil Service Fast Stream.
Nick completed a PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Cambridge, during which he spent three months as an ESRC-funded intern at CSaP. His research was focused on dietary public health and food security.
