EU BON “Building the European Biodiversity Observation Network“ is a European Commission Framework Programme project that launched on 1 December 2012 and runs until mid 2017. EU BON's main objective is to contribute a substantial part of GEO BON (Global Earth Observation Biodiversity Observation Network) and to make better use of biodiversity data to support policy making. CSaP will lead a work stream on engaging with policy makers in the European Commission and national governments.

One key feature of EU BON is the delivery of relevant data to the various stakeholders and end users ranging from governments at local, national and global scales, businesses and civil society. The integrative EU BON network will facilitate political decisions in different sectors in order to conserve biodiversity.

EU BON is a consortium of 30 partners, including the Centre for Science and Policy, from 18 countries and will be coordinated by Dr. Christoph Häuser from the (Berlin Natural History Museum) Museum für Naturkunde.
