Alasdair is a PhD student in the Department of Geography and the lead for the ESRC Sustainability, Welfare and Prosperity thematic cluster. His research focuses on unpacking afforestation targets, primarily for carbon sequestration, in East Africa, looking at the disjuncture between policy targets and project implementation. Before starting at Cambridge, Alasdair worked on marine policy legislation at the UK and EU level with Fidra and Fauna and Flora International. Before this, he worked as a researcher for the University of Edinburgh on projects focussing on off-grid energy access.
Alasdair was a CSaP intern in 2020, and worked on synthesising evidence for a green post-pandemic stimulus package for the UK Government and supported CSaP's involvement with the Cambridge Zero Policy Forum.
