Dr Alexander Randall is an experienced policy professional currently working within the Ministry of Defence’s Directorate of Economic Security and Prosperity. He leads on matters relating to UK defence industrial policy. Alexander has previously worked in the Home Office, developing science and technology policy responses to the UK’s leading security challenges. He has also worked in the Cabinet Office within the Economic and Domestic Affairs Secretariat.
In the Ministry of Defence, Alexander has worked in Private Office for the Minister for the Armed Forces and led on international policy and planning for West Africa.
Prior to joining the civil service, Alexander completed a PhD in Neuroscience at the University of Cambridge. His research focused on the molecular mechanisms underlying sensory perception. Alexander’s engagement with the Bennett Institute for Public Policy has furthered his interest in increasing dialogue between academics and policymakers.
