Alexander Patto is an inaugural Borysiewicz Biomedical Sciences Fellow at the University of Cambridge, and a Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Fellow based at the University's Department of Physics. His research focuses on bacterial contamination detection in low resource settings, such as refugee camps and developing countries.

Alexander is also CEO of WaterScope, a not-for-profit company that provides an easy-to-use, quick system to test for bacterial contamination in drinking water. As CEO Alexander's research has a clear impact on the lives of people who do not have easy access to safe drinking water. He tolds a PhD in Genetics from the University of Cambridge, and a BSc in Genetics from Cardiff University.
