Director of Policy and External Affairs, Chartered Management Institute

Anthony Painter became Director of Policy and External Affairs at the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) in February 2022. Anthony oversees CMI’s Policy & Public Affairs work; research and the development of thought leadership and CMI’s Press and PR function.

Previously, he was Chief Research & Impact Officer at the Royal Society for the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, Anthony led RSA’s social change remit, which included a focus on examining the future of work, education, lifelong learning and economic security. A published author and presenter, Anthony’s work on policy and social innovation was awarded a Think Tank of the Year Award by Prospect Magazine. Among other roles he was previously the Vice Chair of Governors of Hackney Community College. He holds degrees from the University of Cambridge and the London School of Economics.
