Policy Leaders Fellow Alumnus, Centre for Science and Policy
Following a career in banking and government, Geoffrey Spence is currently a Non-Executive Director of Jersey Ports (which is responsible for the airports and ports of Jersey), and the Nazareth Trust (a not for profit Christian Hospital in Nazareth, Israel). He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Association of Consulting Engineers and is a member of the London Mayor’s Brexit Advisory panel.
He was a member of HMG’s Thames Estuary Commission from 2016-18, during which time he was also Global Head of Infrastructure, Resources and Energy for Lloyds Bank plc.
From 2011-16 he was Chief Executive of Infrastructure UK within HM Treasury, leading HMT’s Infrastructure Policy and Delivery. It was at this time that he joined the CSaP Policy Leaders Fellowship. From 2008-10 he was Special Adviser to the Chancellor of the Exchequer on financial stability during the the banking crisis.
Previously, Geoffrey worked in investment banking for 24 years, specialising in the financing of the utilities, energy and infrastructure industries and their major projects, working for Deutsche Bank AG as Head of Project and Export Finance for EMEA and Global Head of Infrastructure for HSBC Bank plc.
