President, Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge

Professor Dame Madeleine Atkins became the 9th President of Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge University, on 1st October 2018.

Madeleine has a diverse background, having studied Law and History at Cambridge before teaching at a comprehensive school in Huntingdon. She furthered her academic pursuits with a Ph.D. and post-doctoral research contracts at the University of Nottingham. Moving into higher education administration, she held senior positions at Newcastle University, including Pro-Vice-Chancellor, and served as Vice-Chancellor of Coventry University from 2004 to 2013. Following this, she became Chief Executive of the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) from January 2014 to March 2018.
