Professor of Economic Geography, Geography and Environmental Science, University of Southampton

Peter Sunley has published around 100 articles and books on economic geography, and particularly on evolutionary economic approaches to uneven and regional development. His research has focused on geographies of labour organisation and labour market policy, regional development, clusters and venture capital, social enterprise, design and creative industries, and evolutionary economic geography. He has held large Economic and Social Research Council research grants on design industry clusters, economic evolution of cities, regional resilience to recessions, and advanced manufacturing renaissance in industrial regions. He is a member of the editorial team of the Cambridge Journal of Regions, Economy and Society and of the Research Committee of the Regional Studies Association.
