As Director for Analysis at the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, Alison Kilburn’s responsibilities cover leading the department’s analyst community by setting the analysis strategy that helps DSIT deliver on its mission of driving innovation and creating growth. She is responsible for all analysis within the department, including all aspects of policy and programme appraisal and evaluation across DSIT’s policy portfolio.

Alison is a professional economist by background and has held several senior analysis, strategy, and policy roles across government. Most recently she was Director of Analysis at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sports, Interim Director of Analysis at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and Head of the Government Economic Service and Social Research strategy based in HM Treasury.

She plays an active role in the wider government analytical community, sitting on the Analysis Function Board, Chairing the Analysis Function People Board; and also sits on the oversight board for the Evaluation Task Force. She also leads the cross-government analysis workstream on Artificial Intelligence.
