Charlie Massey has been Chief Executive and Registrar of the General Medical Council since November 2016. His work with the GMC is building on the service reform undertaken in the past few years, including increased responsbility in medical education, and establishing the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service.
He was previously Director General for Strategy and External Relations at the Department of Health from May 2012; it was in this role that he became a Policy Leaders Fellow.
Charlie is a career civil servant, having previously worked in HM Treasury, the Cabinet Office, Department for Work and Pensions, the Pensions Regulator and the Department of Social Security.
