PhD Student, Population Health Interventions, MRC Epidemiology Unit

Christina Xiao is a PhD student funded by the Cambridge International Trust scholarship supervised by Dr Jenna Panter. Her research focuses on examining the health co-benefits of climate change mitigation and resilience strategies through health policies related to the urban built environment, sustainable transit systems, and physical activity.

Christina has a background in Public Policy and History, Philosophy, and Social Studies of Science and Medicine from the University of Chicago. She also holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) with a specialization in biostatistics and epidemiology from Ecole des hautes études en santé publique, Paris, France.

After graduating, she worked as a health policy consultant at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development on obesity, the impact of new public transit infrastructure on physical activity, and links between planetary and human health. She has also conducted research with the Environmental Health department at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health on prenatal exposure to endocrine-disrupting compounds and has also collaborated on cost-effectiveness analyses of air pollution policies with researchers from Columbia Mailman School of Public Health.
