Ian Hall graduated in Mathematics from St. John’s College, Cambridge in 1985. After 16 years working in finance (largely proprietary trading) he left the City and has since been involved in a range of activities including commercial property, renewable energy, historical research and government policy work. Since 2013 he has worked part-time for a Conservative MP (subsequently a minister) in both parliament and government, covering a wide range of policy areas and serving as a ministerial adviser in Defra from 2015-16. He is interested in the practical processes of effective government, with specific interests in farming and rural affairs, digital connectivity, housing and energy policy.
