Lead Analyst for Organised Crime Research within the Home Office Analysis and Insight directorate

Jenny is the Lead Analyst for Organised Crime Research within the Home Office Analysis and Insight directorate. She oversees a portfolio of research to inform and evaluate Government policy on Serious & Organised Crime (SOC).

A social researcher by profession, Jenny spent the early years of her career outside of Government at the National Centre for Social Research (Natcen) with a focus on research into education. She joined the Home Office over 10 years ago and has enjoyed a number of varied analytical roles, including oversight of what was then the British Crime Survey, research into anti-social behaviour, confidence in the police and risk of victimisation. She has since worked in roles focussing on making data more widely available and accessible to the public and enjoys working with academics and researchers outside of Government to build evidence on which to base strategic policy making and an effective law enforcement response.

Jenny took over the lead for SOC Research in early 2013 and continues to be fascinated by the subject matter. Whilst Jenny’s remit covers a range of different crime types, her current focus is on developing a programme of work around Economic Crime; in particular better understanding the true scale and nature of the threat.
