Louise is the former Director of Science, Research & Evidence at the Department of Health and Social Care. She led the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) with Professor Chris Whitty, the Department’s Chief Scientific Advisor, working across government and with other funding agencies. She also had responsibility for research to inform policy in the Department and science policy for genomics, rare diseases and emerging therapies.

Louise has worked at a national level in the life sciences sector for over 25 years in roles and organisations dedicated to excellent science, delivering economic impact and enabling a healthier society. She has an honours degree in physiology from the University of Edinburgh and a PhD in biomedical science from the University of London.
