Engineering Biology Policy Lead, Department for Science, Innovation and Technology

As the engineering biology lead, Mark advises and assists government development and delivery of the National Vision for Engineering Biology, assessing progress and making recommendations to shape priorities for implementation. Prior to his current role, Mark has held roles such as the Head of Technology Strategic Frameworks at DSIT, Head of EU Exit Strategy Planning, Programme Manager for the UKRI Implementation Programme and Policy Advisor for the Newton Fund.

He completed his PhD in Experimental Psychology from the Univeristy of Cambridge in 2015 where he examined some of the molecular mechanisms of memory consolidation and reconsolidation. He also completed a Policy Secondment to the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills in 2014.
