Dr Matthew Hart manages the engineering activities for Owlstone’s Defence and Security business unit and is also responsible for development of Owlstone’s microchip ion filter. Since joining Owlstone in 2006, Dr. Hart has worked with US and UK government and private-sector customers to develop and deploy Owlstone’s ion filter technology in small, low-power, broadband chemical detectors for defence and security applications. Prior to joining Owlstone, Dr. Hart worked to commercialize micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) technologies for companies in the telecommunications and healthcare sectors and carried out postdoctoral research in MEMS at the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Hart holds a BA in physics from the University of Oxford and a PhD in optical physics from the University of Edinburgh.
