Neville Ash is Director of the UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC). His previous role was Deputy Director for UN Environment's Division of Environmental Policy Implementation, based in Nairobi, where he coordinated UN Environment's work on the illegal trade in wildlife, and had oversight on the Division's work on areas including Environmental Education, Poverty and the Environment, and Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services. He also worked on the estalishment of the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).

Neville holds a BSc from the University of Sheffield and an MSc from the University of Kent. As well as working for UN Environment and UNEP-WCMC, he has also held roles with the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, the Ethiopian Wolf Conservation Programme, and Millenium Ecosystem Assessment, as well as the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
