Nick Joicey is the Director General for Strategy, EU Exit and Finance in the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (having taken up the position of DG for Strategy, International, Food and Farming in January 2014). He is responsible for strategic oversight of the Department’s international and biosecurity work. He is also Head of the Policy Profession in Defra, and a member of the Department's Supervisory Board.

Prior to joining Defra he was Director for International Finance at the Treasury. Before that he led the Treasury’s European teams and was seconded to Washington DC at the UK delegation to the IMF.

    Innovation in agriculture – supporting and catalysing a translational cat’s cradle

    What are the big opportunities to deliver on the aims of the agri-tech strategy? This policy workshop seeks to explore this question in the context of the rapidly developing plans for the new Cambridge Centre for Crop Science (3CS), a collaboration between NIAB and the University of Cambridge that will enhance research in crop sciences, promote knowledge exchange and develop resilience in food security.
