Permanent Secretary, Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport
Sarah is now Permanent Secretary in the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport from March 2019. Sarah began her civil service career in the Cabinet Office, where she worked in the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit. She studied Modern History and English at the University of Oxford, and holds an MSc in Social Policy from the London School of Economics.Policy Leaders Fellow, Centre for Science and Policy
Sarah Healey has been Director General of the Economic and Domestic Secretariat since December 2018. Immediately prior to that she was DG in the Cabinet Office Europe Unit/DExEU. Earlier in her career she held roles in the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, Department for Work and Pensions, and the Department for Education. She has also worked in the Senior Civil Service on gender diversity projects, encouraging job sharing schemes in departments that allow staff with different needs to continue working and maintaining other commitments.
