Senior Analyst, RAND Europe

Sarah Parkinson is a Senior Analyst at RAND Europe. Her work focuses on public health and health innovations, with particular interests in infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and substance use. She has managed and led studies for a wide range of UK and international clients, including national governments, the European Commission and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). Her recent research includes studies looking at gaps in international pathogen surveillance, future-proofing study of the EU AMR Action Plan and a study looking at the financial ecosystem for medicines R&D and how to make it more fit to meet future challenges. In the area of substance use, she has worked on studies looking at tobacco control measures and tobacco advertising across Europe. She also manages RAND Europe’s evaluation of the 10-year drug strategy’s investment in the treatment and recovery system in England. Prior to joining RAND Europe, she worked on state-level health and education policies and work related to prescription opioids in the US.

She holds an M.Sc. in Social Policy from the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from the same university.
