Professor Shaun Gregory is the Chair in International Security in the School of Government and International Affairs at the University of Durham. His research interests centre on regional security issues in South Asia with a particular focus on Pakistan. The main areas of his work include Pakistan's regional relations (particularly with India and Afghanistan), nuclear weapons, terrorism, intelligence, and how these issues relate to the stability and cohesion of the state.

Professor Gregory has retained an interest in regional European Security issues with a focus on French defence policy, British and French nuclear weapons, and the role of France in the "war on terrorism". He also maintains an interest in inter-faith issues, mainly concerning religious minorities in South Asia, with a particular interest in Pakistan's Christian community and other non-Muslim religious minorities.

He is a consultant to NATO and in recent years has provided consultancy, policy advice, or worked in other capacities with a range of IOs, governments, and NGOs, including the UNHCR and EU, the governments and/or government agencies and militaries of the UK, US, Belgium, Canada, France, Holland, India and Pakistan, and groups such as EISF and MSF.
