Stuart has been a civil servant for nearly 30 years, and his career has focused at different times on supporting evidence-based policy making (in the Government Office for Science and now supporting the Regulatory Policy Committee) and on organisational management (particularly on public sector pay). Stuart has an undergraduate degree in Materials Science, a Masters in Psychology and a PhD in Metallurgy, and has recently qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant (with CIMA).
