Gabriel Horn

It is with great sadness that we heard of the death of Professor Sir Gabriel Horn. Professor Horn was the moving force behind the Cambridge University Government Policy Programme (CUGPOP), the initiative which preceded the Centre for Science and Policy; his energy, enthusiasm, breadth of vision and attention to detail enabled the Programme to have a deep and lasting influence on government policy.

CSaP has been built on the legacy which CUGPOP left, and Professor Horn continued to play an important role as a mentor with perceptive comments and suggestions. His academic record and public honours speak for themselves; we wish to record here our gratitude for his insight and support.

On a personal note I will miss Gabriel greatly. He was a major influence leading me to take on the role of Founding Director, and I valued every moment I spent in his company.
