Philip Langsdale

It is with deep sadness that we note that Philip Langsdale, one of our Policy Fellows, passed away just before Christmas.

Philip was a very special person: modest, clever and with a drive to help change things for the better. He had recently moved from BAA to take over one of the most difficult jobs in government – CIO for the Department of Work and Pensions – and was one of the few people who could have tackled that enormous task. Even though he knew the clock was ticking, he still maintained a cheerful and positive outlook, seeing the best in things and only stopped work at the beginning of December. He will be missed by everyone who had the good fortune to have known him.
