Ben Douglass is the Assistant Director for Services and Digital Trade Strategy at the Department for International Trade.


He has held a number of roles within trade, both within DIT and before that, in the Department for Exiting the European Union, where he led on trade and international affairs within the international agreements unit.

Ben started his Civil Service career as a fast streamer in Whitehall, spending time on finance and tax strategy within HMRC, socio-economic disadvantage within the Department for Education, and a short secondment to the NHS leading on operational delivery within an NHS trust. Prior to that, Ben taught law at the University of Sheffield alongside reading for his postgraduate qualifications.

Ben read Law at the University of Sheffield, holding an LLB, an MA in Biotechnological Law and Ethics, and an MPhil. in law and public policy.
