Professor of Plant Ecology, Department of Plant Sciences, University of Cambridge
Howard is one of the Co-Chairs of the Global Food Security Interdisciplinary Research Centre at the University of Cambridge, as well as the Professor of Plant Ecology in the Department of Plant Sciences. His scientific interests are on plant physiological ecology, particularly in the application of molecular techniques to whole-plant physiology to investigate the regulation of photosynthetic responses and plant water use. He specialises in responses to climate change, and is part of the management committee of the Cambridge Centre for Climate Change. Howard’s work also translates into conservation and biomass crop productivity, reflected by his membership of the Cambridge Conservation Initiative.
