PhD Candidate in Politics and International Studies, University of Cambridge

Jack is studying for his PhD in Politics and International Studies at St John's College, University of Cambridge. His research combines parliamentary studies and the politics of the UK constitution, focusing on intergovernmental relations in the UK and the role of parliaments following devolution to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. He is supervised by Professor Michael Kenny, the Director of the Bennett Institute for Public Policy.

Jack completed an MA in History and Politics at the University of Edinburgh, which included undertaking research funded by the Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland where he investigated shared rule in Scotland and the UK. He then undertook his MPhil studies at the University of Cambridge and his thesis explored the committee system in the House of Lords. Jack has contributed to the Bennett Institute for Public Policy as a Research Assistant and is currently a Research Assistant at the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Edinburgh, working on a British Academy/Leverhulme-funded project exploring knowledge networks in the House of Commons.
