Dr Liz Killen is an Assistant Manager, Policy with the Office of Australia's Chief Scientist. A chemical engineer by training, Liz has experience across industrial, non-profit, and government sectors.

Before joining the Australian Government, Liz worked for the Policy Links Unit, an industrial innovation policy consultancy linked to the University of Cambridge. Prior to this, she worked in the UK Government Office for Science in the Prime Minister's Council for Science and Technology secretariat and futures and foresight teams. Liz started her career as a chemical engineer in a nuclear medicine production facility in Australia.

Liz has lectured on various policy and engineering topics at the Wellcome Sanger, AINSE, and Institute of Continuing Education of the University of Cambridge, amongst others, and she has also presented internationally on topics including supply chain optimisation and nuclear medicine.

Liz's interests include innovation ecosystems, science and technology policy, systems modelling for policy, and government science advice systems.

Liz holds a PhD at the University of Cambridge, UK, an MSc from Imperial College London, UK, and a BEng(Hons) from the University of New South Wales, Australia.
