Lucia Costanzo is Senior Manager for Engagement in the Joint Air Quality Unit (Defra/DfT). Until January 2020, Lucia was Assistant Director, Higher Education Strategy & Policy Directorate in the Department for Education.

She was previously Assistant Director at the Research Funding Unit in the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS), with particular responsibility for NERC and ETI.

Before joining the Research Funding Unit, Lucia was as Head of EU Research Policy at BIS, focussing on Research Policy within the EU, as part of the work of the International Science and Innovation Unit (ISIU).
