Senior External Affairs Adviser, The National Trust

Marcus joined the National Trust in 2011, having previously worked for Earthwatch Europe, RSPB/Birdlife International and the international environmental consultancy ERM. Throughout the last 20 years, he has worked on the full breadth of environmental and sustainability policy from a government, NGO and corporate perspective – and was involved in The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB) for Business study in 2010.

At the Trust, he had overseen the Trust’s work on CAP reform before his attention switched to working on post-Brexit environmental issues last June, notably what policies are put in place to support land management and the environment after we leave the EU.

He is currently working as part of the Greener UK coalition to develop farming and land management policy proposals and is co-managing a joint project with the Green Alliance examining how new environmental markets in land and nature could be brought to life to support a more ecosystems approach to farming in the UK.
