Mary Kasanicki obtained a PhD in biochemistry before qualifying as a solicitor specialising in intellectual property law at a city law firm. She is currently head of the legal team at the Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) at Cambridge University Hospitals. Her responsibilities include the legal aspects of large projects such as the NIHR BioResource and the 100,000 Genomes Project, together with oversight of the management of BRC intellectual property rights.
