My research is on the experience of psychological work in prisons, from the perspective of both prisoners and psychologists. It is particularly concerned with the legitimacy of such work, and will explore when it is experienced as more or less legitimate, fair and effective.

I don’t see the point of doing research that never benefits people. Policy seems one way to make a difference to people’s lives, so I’d like to understand the strategies for influencing policy.
