Teng Long is a University Associate Professor in Power Electronics at the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge. His research interests include electric vehicles (including trains and aircraft), renewable energy, smart grid, and electrical energy storage. He previously worked for General Electric, where he worked on projects including developing a diesel/electric Tide-class tanker, the world's first large scale hybrid vessel.

Teng holds a PhD in Engineering from the University of Cambridge, and a BEng from the University of Birmingham and Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He is a Chartered Engineer, has filed several patents for inventions relating to power distribution systems, and has presented papers on his research at a variety of conferences, such as the 13th International Naval Engineering Conference and Exhibition in April 2016.
