Dr Tony Hargreaves is a Senior Research Fellow in Civil Engineering at the University of Birmingham. His research interests include developing models to integrate the spatial planning of city regions with urban built form, energy, transport, water, and waste. The aim is to understand how to improve the future sustainability of cities through interdisciplinary research.

He currently works on the Liveable Cities project, a five-year programme of research to develop a method of designing and engineering UK cities that take cognisance of one planet living, one world resources and individual and societal wellbeing.

He previously worked in the Department of Architecture at the University of Cambridge. Prior to joining Cambridge University, Tony advised government organisations on the planning and design of transport and large mixed-use development sites, which built on his experience of civil engineering and transport planning.
