In this lecture, Professor Theresa Marteau will reflect on the work the BHRU has undertaken in its role as the Department of Health Policy Research Unit on Behaviour and Health over the last seven years.
Date: 17 May 2018
Time: 6pm Followed by a drinks reception
Location: Howard Theatre, Downing College, Cambridge
The programme of work undertaken by BHRU focuses on interventions in physical micro-environments - also known as nudging - as well as interventions in economic environments, with the aim of changing behaviour to improve population health and reduce health inequalities.
The lecture will discuss examples of their research, such as reducing portion size and wine glass size, and price changes on sugary drinks and food, which aim to reduce the consumption of food and alcohol. It will also address public acceptability of these interventions, key to their implementation by policy makers.
The lecture will be chaired by Mark Petticrew, Professor of Public Health Evaluation at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Mark is a member of the Policy Innovation Research Unit (PIRU) at LSHTM and co-directs the NIHR School for Public Health Research at LSHTM. Mark is also an Honorary Professor in Public Health at the University of Liverpool. Since the Behaviour and Health Research Unit’s inception in 2011, Mark has been a member of the Scientific Advisory Board.
